Residents of Westlake Village
Posted on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 13:26:11 CST by admin

Recognizng & respectng beliefs of others Carrol writes "We are appealing to all residents to work together to make our community the best it can be. We have many residents with a wealth of knowledge that could be used to help make our community a welcoming, beautiful place to live. Sadly, some residents choose to do the opposite and create conflict; something we cannot understand. We attend the monthly board meetings so we can "stay in the know" and make sure we have all the FACTS. We listened to many discussions on the playground being extremely unsafe and the inability for the association to obtain a loan. We approached the board and offered to provide the necessary funds to obtain a safe playground that should last for many years to come.

This was done only for the children of Westlake Village, including our own grandchildren who are also residents here, and our actions came from our hearts. A "Promisory Note" was signed and there is nothing in there stating that the playground was collateral for the money. We want you all to know that if the note did go into default, we would NEVER remove the playground even if we could.

Since then we have heard nothing but negativity about the playground; mainly from two WLV residents. We are asking you to stop listening to the gossip and get the facts.

Try to understand how we feel when we have to listen to people who are ridiculously convinced that the untruths are true. Our daughter received a phone call from a person in particular who provided mostly false information about the whole playground initiative in an attempt to get residents upset. Since she was involved in the playground initiative she knew the facts... the truth. It is upseting to hear false information carelessly being thrown around. We're not looking for any recognition however, we are looking for a hint of appreciation in just knowing what the real intent was that we had behind this and that it came from our hearts for the children of WLV.

What are we getting at here?
If only this community would work together, attend the meetings and get the information first hand; get the facts! Do what you can by volunteering in different areas to help as we do and stop the gossip.

For those who do nothing you are still making a choice... that choice is not to work to make WLV what it once was and what it can be again. Were not asking for a lot of your time but everyone can spare a little bit of time. In a group effort a lot can be achieved.

Best Wishes...
Richard & Carrol Rayfield
